Udupi : There shall be more importance was being given to research in Ayurveda, said Prof. Vaidya Kartar Sing Dhiman, Director General, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, New Delhi.
He was delivering the Graduation Day address at SDM College of Ayurveda, Kuthpady, near here on Saturday, June 8, Dhiman said that first of all he wishes the graduates in Ayurveda students. Today on wards the fresh graduates students are more respectable persons in the society. More than 5 lakhs graduates are out of the country and their contribution to the growth of the country for society in Ayurvedic research.
He said Ayurvedic graduates should learn more, research more, think more and does successful profession. This would be change the attitude in life and attain the good profession. The passing out students should practice what they had learnt while doing their course. It was important that they followed the Ayurvedic lifestyle. If they tell their patients to accept Ayurveda as a way of life, the entire situation would be different.
He said besides the knowledge of his or her course, an Ayurveda doctor attained proficiency through his or her thought process and experience. Ayurveda is a noble profession and it encourages you to heal illness.
Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chancellor, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Unversity, Dharwad was presided over the programme. In his presiding address Dr. Veerendra Heggade said that there is difference between Pandit and doctor in medicines. Ayurvedic style of medical practice existed since more than 5000 years. The SDM College of Ayurveda here had a department of Folklore Medicine. It had documented about 3,000 combinations of folk medicines. The department was established about 30 years ago, he said.
He said Guru only teaches but Acharya is practicing. The Ayurvedic person is not only the Guru but also Acharya. He congratulated the all graduates during the ceremony.
After the invocation by Ms. Anusha Raykar, Principal Dr. G. Srinivasa Acharya welcomed the gatherings. Dr. Sucheha Kumari presented the list of candidates of Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery. The some graduates worshiped for Guru Pada Pooja-worshipping the holy feet.
V. Hemavathi Heggade, D. Surendra Kumar Vice President of SDM Educational society, Mamatha K. V. Medical Superintendent, Prasanna N Pricipal of SDM College of Ayurveda, Hassan and other among were present.
