Vanamahotsava observed at Nirmala School, Brahmavar

Brahmavar : Vanamahotsava is an annual tree planting movement in India which initially began in 1950. The name Van-Mahotsav means the huge festival of trees. It has gained significant importance every year. Millions of saplings are planted across India in observation of vanamahotsava.
Vanamahotsava festival was started in 1950 by Dr K M Munshi , then the Union minister for Agriculture and Food to create enthusiasm among masses for forest conservation and planting trees. It is celebrated in almost all parts of India, but usually celebrated in the month of July.
The festival raises the awareness of trees plantation among the people and highlights the need for planting and tending trees as one of the best ways to prevent global warming and reduce pollution.
Nirmala English Medium School, Brahmavar organized Vanamahotsava at their school Campus on 8th of July .2019. More than 100 saplings were planted by the students and staff of NEMS. The Chief guest of the day was Mr. Dhananjay the head of the department of Brahmavar Zonal Agriculture Research center . Fr. Victor Fernandies the correspondent, Fr. Joslie D’Silva the principal ,Mr. Veerana PTA president and Mr. Krishna PTA member were present for this celebration.
The programme began with the prayer song by invoking god’s blessings , Kum. Manya of class 8th welcomed the gathering. As a symbolic representation of plant was planted in a pot by the Chief guests. Mr. Veerana address the gathering and told the student about the importance of planting a sapling in our daily life. If we do not save the plant today we have to suffer in our future and the sacristy of water for the future generation. Chief guest Mr. Dhananjaya asked the students to do a demo by holding their breath for a moment. If we are not able to live without inhale for a moment than how can we servive without the oxygen or the clean air to breath. We need clean air and that this is provided to us by the plants the plants are important for us in our daily life. With the short story he explain the student to save the plants.
Students of different classes presented a cultural program class 7th presented a beautiful song. Vishwesh of class 8th spoke a few words about impotents of vanamahothsava Class 8th and 9th students presented the dance with the message to save trees.
Programme was concluded by school anthem. Roshel of class 9th propose the vote of thanks. Programme was anchored by Sharanya raj of 8th std after the stage program students went to plant saplings in school garden.
