Dubai: Konkan Yuva Announces ‘Khel Mhel-2019’ Traditional Sports Fest

Konkan Yuva, youth wing of St Mary’s church Dubai is glad to announce its forthcoming first mega traditional Sports event “KHEL MHEL-2019”. It will be a day-long outdoor tournament on Friday, November 22nd 2019. Timings for the event will be from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club, Sharjah, UAE and this will be transformed into a wholesome family entertainment destination.

Since its commencement in 2005, Konkan Yuva is the only Mangalorean youth organization at St Mary’s Catholic Church Dubai and they have promised a day filled sports activities with music, fun and entertainment for everyone. From kids to elders, there are activities for everyone. For kids & families Fancy Fete, face painting, Housie Housie and several other spot games. Elders can shake a leg to the Konkani Baila by DJ Shavin’ and show off their muscles and skills with the Tug of War to enthrall young adults.

This traditional sports event is a full day Outdoor event, Open to Konkan coastal -Catholics only and teams with UAE resident visa, where skilled teams from different emirates are expected to participate. Attractive cash prizes and trophies will be presented to the winning teams. This sports competition in 2 categories- Inter Parish & Open to all (Konkan coastal -Catholics Only) and Games like Tug of War(Dori Vodche), Treasure Hunt, Coconut Smash (Narl Podche), Spot games and many more exciting games will be conducted. For Inter Parish category - Pernal, Puttur, Loretto, Vamanjoor, Moodubelle, Uswas Shirva, Bajpe, Derebail, Surathkal, Ferar, Bantwal and Neermarga Parishes have already registered their names. Only 16 teams will take part in each category and teams will be selected on a first come first serve basis. No of members should only be 12 to a limit of 7 men and 5 women in each team. Each game will have a points system and the end of the day, winners will be selected on the basis of highest points gained.

Teams are invited to play in the following categories:
1.    Inter Parish
2.    Open to all (Konkan coastal -Catholics Only)

Registration fee will be AED 300 per team. It will be open on ‘first come first serve’ basis. Lunch will be provided for each participating team member.
There will also be “Voviyo” Competition in which only 6 teams can take part (limit of 6 members in each team).
