Print Independence Day Celebration and Pratibha Puraskar at Kemmannu Church.
Kemmannu, August 15, 2019: 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at Kemmannu church with the fervor and deep patriotism associated with the day. After the high mass, celebrated by Resident Priest Fr. Herald Pereira along with Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Victor D Souza, parishioners joined at the church compound to celebrate the the occasion. Parish priest Fr. Victor D Souza presided over the function. The day coincides with the Feast Assumption of Mother Mary.
Mr. Felix Pinto welcomed the people who were present. Fr.Victor D Souza unfurled the National flag. National anthem was sung and everyone saluted the national flag with great respect.Fr. Herald delivered the speech appropriate for the occasion. Master Oliver Lawrence D Souza, who took part in the Republic Day Parade last year at Delhi delivered the commands.
Simultaneously Catholic Sabha organized a ‘Prathibha Puraskar’ ceremony for the students who had excelled in the last academic year. Fr. Victor along with Fr. Herald, Mrs. Benedicta Saldanha and Catholic Sabha President Mr. Arun Fernandes presented the shields, Shawl and garland to the winners. The trophies were sponsored by late Roque Saldanha’s family in memory of late Fr. J. J. Saldanha. And Late Mr. Roque Saldanha.
Mr. Naveen Saldanha read out the names of Prathibha Puraskar winners. Mrs. Jyothi Lewis proposed the vote of thanks.
