Udupi : The Vishwa Hindu Parishad Divisional Secretary Sharan Pumpwell demanded to shut the Divine Call Centre in Karnad, Mulki and also the its website which has been converting innocent Hindus to Christianity and torturing Hindus.

Addressing a media conference held at Hotel Kidiyoor on Tuesday, August 27, VHP leader said since several years the Divine Call centre prayer house at Karnad near Mulki indulged in conversion of innocent Hindus. Among one of the case that Pradeep Kotian who works as an auto driver from Udyavar, near Udupi was converted which he was forced to convert by two people by the missionaries. Pradeep was tortured and a video was recorded. He also said that the missionaries allegedly threatened to make the video viral, if Pradeep Kotian did not convert.

He alleged that Irene from Udyavara and a priest of the center had forcefully tried to convert Pradeep Kotian to Christianity. He also alleged that Irene and Fr Abraham a priest of Divine Call center mentally tortured Pradeep and forced him to give a statement against the Hindu religion during a prayer service at centre. Both Irene and Fr Abraham are behind the case of forceful conversion and Pradeep filed a complaint in the Mulki Police station.

Sharan said that the missionaries’ are forcefully converting into Christian dominations and it will happening quite often in some prayer centers in both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. He requests the police and the government to check all Christian religious centers and in order to prevent forceful conversion; the people should support such illegal religious conversion. We already submitted memorandum to the DK district DC Sasikanth Senthil  and take action against the such prayer centers in the district, he said.

Sharan said that we will go to put pressure on Union government which is led by Narendra Modi on enforcing anti-conversion bill. Poor people are the targets for missionaries and there are chances of students being brainwashed. The missionaries will extend financial support and hostel facilities for poor children to study and later they will try them to change religion, he alleged.
