Udupi : We should work according the need and wishes of the people, so that we can put more effort and solve the problems of the people in Urban cities like Udupi. Providing good services to the people is more and prime important, said G. Jagadeesh, newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district.
After the hearing from the various grievances of the Udupi City Municipal Councillors’ in Sathyamurthy Hall here on Thursday, August 29, DC said the municipal council officials could be possible to report field work every day at 6am and can go home at earlier. Need quick actions from the officials in favour of the people, he said.
He said that he was done his probation under Ponnuraj who was then the DK Deputy Commissioner and Hemalatha was then DC of Udupi. I have little knowledge about the Udupi. In urban areas I have headed several developmental works and have knowledge in relate to policy. I was served as Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation which is larger city than Udupi. I have proud to say that when I was a Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation, city bagged cleanest city award in the country under Swachh Suruvekshan. It will easier to me that Udupi city can make me a clean city which would be not such challenge as Mysuru, he said.
In order to efficiency in work, there should be more mechanical equipments which will easier in work. There are many silly tools and equipments which can make work easier and earlier. We will go through to purchase the machinery.
As per the complaint by the councilors, Deputy Commissioner said that the officials should respect the city councilors when they come to the council office. They are elected by the people to do their work and should respect to them with affection, he said.
The councilors complained about the drainage system in various places, street lights, stray street dogs, path holes, lack of shortage of labour and officials in Municipality etc. Restoration of Indrani river issue was also highlighted by the councilors.
Ramesh Kanchan, Kavitha Krishnamurthy, Sumithra Nayak, Geetha Seth, Krishnarao Kodancha, Prabhakar Poojary, Celine Karkada, Manjula Nayak, Yogish Salian, Vijayalakshm and other councilors placed their grievances.
MLA Raghupathy Bhat said that water and electricity are fundamental requirements of the city. The chief minister has sanctioned Rs 25 crore recently for the city and out of that Rs 5 crore to be used for PWD roads.
Bhat said more importance has given to city municipal council areas in order to solve the various problems at the earliest.
Udupi City Municipality Commissioner Anand Kallolikar was present during the meeting.
