Udupi: The sand problem that has been dampened in Udupi district for the last two years has finally been cleared. Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhatt said the mining department would begin the process of issuing leases to license holders from Wednesday.

Officials from the Department of Mines will begin the lease process from Wednesday, he said.

Since two years there was acute shortage of sand in the district which the economy in the district hardly deteriorated for businessmen and people at large.
