One month grace period given to traders to clear plastic materials

Udupi : One month grace period given to merchants and traders of Udupi district for clearing the plastic bags above 50 microns after long discussion with the traders, merchants, City Municipal authorities and department of Environment officials held at Satyamurthi Hall of City Municipal building on Saturday, October 5.
The meeting was chaired by local MLA Raghupathy Bhat. During the meeting various issues in relate to the ban on plastic items, Raghupathy Bhat informed in the meeting that as per traders wishes, he will ask deputy commissioner to postpone a atleast month after clear of all plastic they bought.
Meanwhile Raghupathy Bhat also said that merchants have to support the district administration to restrict the use of plastics. The ban on the packing plastic will come into effect immediately after a month. Indeed there should be need to give awareness for the public on effects of use of plastic commodities especially carry bags, cups and so on.
