Udupi : The members of Franciscan Secular Tertiary (Third Order) of Milagres Cathedral unit Kallianpur celebrated the feast of their Founder and Patron St Francis Assisi on Sunday, October 6, 2019.

The feast began with thanksgiving mass for St Francis Assisi at 8 am concelebrated by Rev Fr. Mark Pinto, Capuchin and Assistant Vicar of Milagres Cathedral Rev Fr Canute Noronha.

In his homily Fr Mark said that St Francis of Assisi is one of the most cherished saints in the history of the church. But he lived and died eight centuries ago. Francis had a genius for seeing the face of Jesus Christ in everyone he met. He faced some of the biggest questions of his day and he took on challenges of his time with humanity, love and joy.

At the end of the mass, during the weekly announcements by Assistant Parish Priest Rev Fr. Canute Noronha was on behalf of Rector Very Rev Fr Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza extended greetings of the feast.

The Holy Eucharistic celebration was animated by the members of the Tertiary Order including huge offerings, readings and total liturgy.

During the mass, the new members were taken oath into the Tertiary Order from the Fr Mark Capuchin which narrated by President Stany Rodrigues.

After the mass, brief get together of all members of Tertiary Order held at Priest’s meeting hall. In the absence of Rector of the Cathedral, Fr Canute Noronha spoke during the occasion. He appreciated the work and services of Tertiary Order member for the faithful. He conveyed his best wishes for all the members on the occasion.

Dr Nery Cornelio Vice President of parish pastoral council and Fr Mark Capuchin gave their messages of feast.

Earlier, Stany Rodrigues welcomed the gatherings. Zita Lewis placed the brief report of the Tertiary Order of the parish unit. Jacintha Lewis compared the programme. Felciana Lewis secretary of parish pastoral council, nuns of Rose Convent and others were present.
