Udupi district Police observes "Police Martyrs’ Day 2019"

Udupi : District Police observed Martyrs’ Day here at the District Armed Reserved Police Force campus, Chandu Grounds on Monday, October 21 to commemorate the sacrifices of police personnel who lost their lives on duty.
Justice Chandrashekar M Joshi Principal district and session court judge was the chief guest on the occasion. Parade Commander Raghavendra DySP, DAR Udupi to the chief guest of the programme received the guard of honor. The chief guest, District Superintendent of Police Nisha James, retired DySP, representatives from the media, guests and police personnel garlanded the statue of police martyr. Three gun shots were fired on the air to rendering respect to the martyred police personnel.
Nisha James IPS, SP placed the policemen who sacrificed their lives on duty during the period of August 1, 2018 to September 31, 2019 at national level.
In his address, chief guest Chandrashekar M Joshi said that in the history of the country, there would be two responsibilities of the country which maintaining responsibility of protecting inside the country and responsibilities of the country which maintaining by protecting outside the country from the enemy. The police system of the country is maintaining the responsibility with facing questions to protect the inside the nation.
He said remembering the police who sacrificed their lives during the duty which ultimate remembering the deceased policemen will give inspiration to the police and the society as well. In fact, the police department will face more and more challenges in the days to come and they are strong enough to challenge and face them under the framework of our national constitution.

To mark the respect for the martyred policemen, the police flag was lowered to half-mast and two minutes of silence. The police mass band gave tune during the observation of the martyrs’ Day during the occasion.
Kumarachandra, District Assistant Superintendent of Police was present on the dais. Large number of police personnel, retired police personnel, guests and other members were present. Manjunath compered the programme.
