Udupi: The Indian Meteorological Department and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Center have forecast heavy rains for the next three days from October 23 to 25 on the coastal areas of the state, Red Alert announced.
The enhanced low pressure area over east central Arabian sea with the associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 4.5km above mean sea level persists. It is very likely to become well marked low pressure area during next 24 hours and is likely concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours.
Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rain and extremely heavy falls at isolated places of the coastal Karnataka.
Against this backdrop, the District Disaster Management Authority has given instructions to take early action.
The public / fishermen should be careful not to get into the river / sea. District / taluk level officers must be in a central position. In an announcement, District Collector G. Jagadish said that Parents should be alerted to children from going to lowlands / lakeside / coastal areas and contact the toll free number 1077, Emergency Service on 0820-2574802 / 2574360.

Kundapur: Five fishermen were rescued after their boat capsized in the middle sea in Gangolli, causing a loss of lakhs of rupees. A fishing boat from Malpe port got filled with water and five fishermen in the boat were rescued from danger with the help of fishermen from another boat.
