Udupi : The 64^th Karnataka Rajyothsava celebrations witnessed the extravagant pomp and grandeur with unfurling of national flag here at Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium, Ajjarkad here on Friday, November 1, 2019.

A colourful procession preceded the Rajyothsava celebrations from board high school to Mahatma Gandhi District stadium at Ajjarkad. The procession of Bhuvaneshwari was flagged off by the Minister Basavaraj Bommai at Board High School near service bus station. The procession comprised of the tableaux highlighting the rich tradition and culture of the state besides giving away the messages of social cause.

District in-charge minister and Minister for Home Affairs Basavaraj Bommai hoisted the flag and received the guard of honor followed by a parade as usual.

Delivering the Rajyothsava address, Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the state government under Yeddyurappa various welfare schemes and called upon all people of the land to love and respect Kannada culture and tradition. The state fighters for freedom leaders like Kittur Channamma, Kranthiveer Sangolli Rayanna, Onaka Obavva and other contributed to the state in larger extent and we should need to remember them and other who served better for the state.

This area of coastal districts especially Udupi district enriched the tradition and culture not only to the land of people but also to all over the world. Udupi people contributed their services in various fields especially in gulf countries, Mumbai and other cities of the country. We know that Kannadigas hoisted Kannada flags over the country, he said.

Under our prime minister Narendra Modi and Amith Shah Union Home Minister our nation proceeding towards development and contributing the Nation become one of the strong nation in the world. The dream of Sardar Patel on section 370 has become fulfilled, he said.

Bommai said that we experienced one of the worst flood situations in specially northern part of Karnataka and coastal districts. Under Yeddyurappa leadership, we are able to give compensation to the farmers and others who lost their homes, damaged the houses and farm land and so on. The state government will provide Rs 5 lakh for them. The chief minister also will going to announce shortly the compensation to fishermen. Minister appreciated the Udupi people for their contribution to entrepreneurship talents who convert the hard work to entrepreneurship and we need to establish new trading and business. Udupi people have the capacity to do so, he said.

The minister said that the state government has made taskforce to tourism development especially in coastal districts. With the help of private and public sector, there should need to develop our tourism destinations. Our government will give much importance to tourism development, he said.

As many as 30 achievers and two organizations were conferred the Kannada Rajyotsava awards on the occasion. The various cultural programmes by the different schools were displayed during the occasion.

Udupi MLA K Raghupathy Bhat, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, Zilla Panchayat President Dinakar Babu, Udupi taluk panchayat president Nithagururaj, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, Superintendent of Police Nisha James, ZP CEO Preethi Gehlot and others were present.
