Udupi : The issue of Tipu’s text in school book is yet to be discussed at the Cabinet meeting. Tipu’s ideas were not prevalent in the past. The government’s intention is not to make children aware of controversial issues, said Basavaraja Bommai, district in-charge Minister and Home minister of Karnataka.

Speaking to media persons in Udupi after celebration of Rajyothsava on Friday, November 1, Home Minister said that we do not want children to know about the controversial issue.  CM said that the school should review the lesson cancellation from the text. The government would facilitate a public discussion on omission of lessons on Tipu Sultan from the text books. But, no decision of this matter had been taken in the state cabinet, Bommai said.

Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that both the flags will be hoisted at a Kannada Rajyotsava next year. State Rajya Sabha members are confused over the ’flag’ of Kannada Rajootsav Someone has made one statement. The Kannada flag was not flown in celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava held in Udupi by the district. But the state government has not issued any circular not to fly the Kannada flag. "I have not received any circular as the district caretaker minister," Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters after the Udupi Rajyotsava ceremony.

To a query on the increasing cyber crime cases in the state, Bommai said that after the increase in digitalization, increase in banking transactions through the digital mode, ad the increase in influence of social media, there had been an increase in cyber crimes throughout the country. Since our state is ahead in Information Technology, and its use, we are also ahead in cyber crimes. We have already set up CEN police stations in every district. We have also decided to start eight more CEN police stations in Bengaluru and a CEN police station in every commissionerate in the State and will functioning soon. We have got one of the most modern cyber crime detection labs, minister said.

He told to media persons that in Udupi district on the increase in narcotic cases, the state government had zero tolerance as far as drugs were concerned. We have already set up a squad and told to officers’ that I want results on the ground. We will see the results soon, he said.

He said on increasing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the state, he said as many as 69 illegal Bangaldeshi imiigrants had been traced in the state. The matter had been brought to the notice of Union Home Ministry as well as Union External Affairs Ministry. We will take legal action in this matter in the coming days, he said.
