Udupi : The district administration has directed Navayuga Contruction company to finish the remaining work on Hejmady-Kundapur stretch of National Highway 66 within grace time given, said deputy commissioner of the Udupi district G Jagadeesh.

Speaking at an interaction programme with the media persons at the Press Club here on Tuesday, November 5, DC said that MP Shobha Karandlaje had chaired a meeting on the issue of National Highway 66 on November 4, the concerned Navayuga company officials had assured to complete the work on bridge at Padubidri by end of January 2020 and the work on flyover at Kundapur would be completed by the end of March 2020.

Meanwhile a notice has been issued to the company to complete its work as stipulated time. If the company does not complete these works within this tipulated time as they agreed to do so, then the NHAI would consider revoking their contract, DC said.

The Navayuga Company collecting toll presently in the sense that they had already comp0leted 75% work on the stretch. If the company did not complete the pending much needed work within the stipulated time, then the company would loose its right to collect the toll, G Jagadeesh said.

On the issue of parking problem in the city due to shops coming in basement floors of multi-storied commercial complexes, DC said that he had given instructions for the basement floors marked for parking to the used for that purpose only. Those who violate the instructions by the building owners, action will be taken against the same, DC said.

He said that action would be taken on strict custody of the ban on plastic use in the district.

G. Jagdeesh  who had listened to all the issues addressed by journalists, including the issue of waste disposal in Padubidri and the development of Karkala town and promised to take action to solve the problem.
