Udupi : BJP is lying to people and make fake promises. Which promises made by BJP are fulfilled?  The answer should be answered by the people. Our country has never witnessed a liar prime minister like Narendra Modi, said Siddaramaih, opposition leader of legislative assembly of Karnataka government.

He was addressing on the occasion of valedictory of the 150th year of Gandhi Jayanthi programme held at Town Hall, Ajjarkad, on Wednesday, November 6, which was organized by District Congress Committee and Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatan, Udupi district.

Siddaramaih said that during Manmohan Singh tenure as prime minister, the GDP was around 9% which reduced to 3.5% in Narendra Modi government. The unemployment has increasing day by day. The unemployment in the country is one of the worst situations since 40 years. The rate of employment is just 6.2%., he said.

He said Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation for Panchayat Raj Yojana. In the year 1978 the taluk panchayat developed. BJP not interested in Panchayat Raj system in the country. Meanwhile BJP do not want the reservation system because they fear that minorities and other lower castes people will over rule them. In order to get good positions in the society by minorities and lower caste people, Rajiv Gandhi made changes in 73rd and 74th amendment in the constitution. BJP vice president Ram Joyies went to Supreme Court against the reservation. But the petition rejected in the court, he said.

Siddaramaih said that those who do not know history, such people cannot create the history. There is vast history of Mysore. Without Tippu Sultan and Hyder Ali, the history becomes incomplete. Tippu had four wars with British. He won earlier two wars, but in third war he lost to British. He was the great freedom fighter.

Yeddyurappa government is trying to take away the Tippu subject in text books. But, when he was formed KJP, he wore Tipu peta and held sword in his hand. When Jagadish Shettar was chief minister, he was written in the book that Tippu was the great leader and patriot. Today, they only say that Tippu was converter.  BJP should know that not only I started Tipu Jayanthi, but also started the Kittoor Rani Chennamma Jayanti, Narayana Guru Jayanti and others. BJP used to say always that Siddaramiah is against Hindus. They must understand that I was born in a Hindu family and raised by a Hindu family. I am not like BJP’s dongi Hindu. Veer Savarkar was a Congressman and he was against RSS. Patel was purely Congressman, and now Modi trying to upgrade the image of Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel, he said.

In relate to death of Mestha and other issues on the basis of changing attitude with the minds of people, BJP succeeded in coastal districts in previous election.

Modi saying that what Congress had made development in 70 years, we made in only five years, we do not know what BJPs achievement in five years. One lying person cannot change the history of the country, he said.

Siddaramaih said that BJP not in favaour of Ambedkar who prepared our constitution. The truth and non-violence, BJP never believes. The hunger rate of the country increased to 102%. The various problems like unemployment, hunger of poor people, suicides of farmers increased in the country. During the visit of America by the Modi, Trump said that Modi is father of Nation. Modi should object on that statement of Trump. But Modi never had done so. Mahatma Gandhiji is our national father remains.

Earlier Dinesh Gundu Rao President of KPCC and Vay Kumar Sorake former minister spoke during the occasion.

‘Gandhi Kuteera’ a newly built 550 sq ft home worth Rs. 4.8 lac built for underprivileged poor Dalit woman Nalini from Korangrapady near Udupi was inaugurated by Siddaramiah and Dinesh Gundu Rao and handed over Gandhiji photograph to owner of the house Nalini.

KPCC General Secretary Vishunathan, B. M. Sandeep, Mahila Congress State President Pushpa Amarnath, former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLAs Gopal Poojary and U R Sabhapathy, Rangaswamy, Narayanaswamy, M A Gafoor, Block Congress Presidents and others were present on the dais.

District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor welcomed the gathering. District Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatan President Roshni Oliveira spoke key note address. Dr. Sunitha Shetty, Dinesh and Veronica Cornelio compered the programme.
