Udupi: Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat has demanded the immediate withdrawal of his order, which has suspended Anantha Padmanabha, who was the Udupi Town Police Sub-inspector on Monday night.

Responding to the media, Raghupathy Bhat on Tuesday, November 12, said that Anandi Padmanabha, who was the Udupi city police chief on Monday night, was suspended by district police officials for no reason. If he had been involved in any kind of corruption case and had been suspended for wrongdoing, I would have accepted it.

Bhat said that he has been serving here in Udupi for the last three years. They were polite with everyone. Asked about this by the District Police Superintendent, they said they had not filed an FIR and had not informed the senior officers.

I would like to ask the SP if an SI suspends him for not reporting it to senior officers. He also asked them if they would be suspended and give them information about illegal activities in their other subordinate stations. It is reprehensible that the innocent bailiff was suspended for the purpose of harmony between the two religions. I, as a legislator, would not tolerate such a punishment for such a polite officer as he did what a responsible officer should do, he said.

I am very sad that the SP made such a decision, given the pressure of a religion. I have already informed the Home Minister and West Zone IGP about this incident. He immediately demanded that his suspension order be withdrawn and allow him to serve in Udupi, Bhat said.

District Police Superintendent of Police Nisha James has suspended two Head Constables of Udupi City Police Station for allegedly committing a felony in connection with an assault by another group of youths.
