Kallianpur : Our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ’s b day celebrated every year on Nov 14^th as Children’s day  became special and memorable for students of  Milagres English Medium School Kallianpur as it was held with a touch of uniqueness miles apart from the usual manner of celebration near here at Milagres Tri Centenary Hall, Kallianpur.

The reason for the uniqueness of the celebration was the complete focus on students. No guests sat on the stage nor on the first rows except for student cabinet members and class representatives. All the roles beginning from the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, President and other dignitaries of the programme, were all played by the students. Principal, Correspondent and Headmistress sat on the fourth row in the Hall. Moreover a child prodigy who made a mark at the International Level was the chief guest.

The celebration began with the chief guest and student dignitaries being escorted into the hall by President of the programme (a student). After the Hindi prayer song led by High School Staff, the dignitaries (Students) then lighted the lamp and paid homage to Pandit Nehru. Correspondent Rev Fr Dr Lawrence C D’Souza, Principal Rev Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ and Mrs Veera D’Silva only accompanied the students for the lighting of the lamp. A formal welcome was accorded to all by Mrs Dora. Later, every student representative from each class and the main Cabinet members were felicitated florally by the staff.

Miss Raksha, Asst. School Pupil Leader (ASPL) of the High School adorned the President’s role during the entire programme, while Miss Janice Furtado, ASPL of the Primary School was the Guest of honour. Miss Tanushree Pitrody, 6^th std student and child prodigy of St Cecily’s Kannada Medium School, Udupi, four record holder (2 Guinness and two world records) in Yogasana was the Chief guest. Mrs Wilma introduced the chief guest.

In her speech she stressed the need for hardwork and determination that can make wonders in one’s life. Ms Tanushree also presented few most difficult postures (asans) and body revolutions which won her world records and impressed the students about her world record skills. She holds the record for Dharuasana Posture and ‘Nirlambha Poorna Chakrasana’ (full body revolution while maintaining the chest stand position) in one minute in April 2018. She has also participated in Yoga show in Italy. The record holder was then felicitated by all the dignitaries accompanied by the Correspondent, Principal and Headmistress.

Miss Tanushree, apart from Yoga is well versed in Hulivesha, Yakshagana, Bharatanayam too.

The staff of kindergarten, Primary and High School together meticulous planned the programme. Dance, skit, mimicry etc. The wishing song sung by the entire staff of 45 teachers enthused the students.

Guest of honour Miss Janice Furtado, expressed her sentiments. President Miss Raksha R gave  her presidential remarks and thanked the school for this special and unique experience. She truly is a multitalented child prodigy said Miss Raksha, President of the programme. She enthused the students to imitated her well planned determined and motivation filled determination. 

Mrs Rashmi compered the programme. Mrs Dora welcomed the student community. Mrs Marissa proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the school anthem and time to dance for 10 minutes.

Students were given sweets and ice cream the savour the taste of the celebration. In the Afternoon staff Vs students matches were organised.
