Khel Mhel-2019 Champions- Pokri Pernal and Mattikatte United

Nov 22: Konkan Yuva, Dubai organized Traditional Family Sports Fest ‘ Khel Mhel-2019 ‘ on 22nd November at  Wanderers Sports Club, Sharjah an event that added another feather to Konkan Yuva  cap. The programme began at 9:00Am .Over 26 Teams participated which included both Interparish and Open to all Teams and about 800 crowd witnessed the sports event. Chief Guest for the event was Walter Nandalike MD of Daiji World and others guest included Fr. Stephen Lewis  Priest Konkani Community Sharjah, Ronald Martis MD of Blue Royal Group of Companies, Pradeep Barboza Paladka Konkani Actor Director of Drama, Dayan DSouza Daiji Dubai writers Forum Founder, Valerian DAlmeida Financial Advisor of News Karnataka, Fr. Denis Saldhana -Priest of St Mary’s Mangalorean Community and Spiritual Director of Konkan Inaugurated the event.

The opening of the event was with the Nasik Band by Team Ocean Kids which escorted the guest to dais along with other KY Core Committee Members followed by the march past from all the teams and the stage programme began. Prayer Service was conducted by Fr. Stephen Lewis, President Vivian Fernandes welcomed the gathering. The inauguration of the event took place by Raising the KY Banner and by Flying the Doves which symbolized peace and brotherhoods throughout the event, The Chief Guest Walter Nandalike wished all the Participating Team and Konkan Yuva Good Luck. Fr.Denis Saldanha’s words strengthen the event .The Konkan Yuva theme song was sung and the Chief Guest declared the Sports Meet open .

The Sports event began at 10:00AM Inaugurated by Coconut smash by Fr.Stephen lewis and Fr. Denis Saldanha. The games went on this way beginning with Coconut Smash, Lagori, Tug of war, Slow Cycle Race. At 1:00 PM Vovyo Competition was conducted three teams took part in this competition. Judges for Vovyo completion Dayan Dsouza, Ajith Peter, Shannu Monis and Walter Nandalike. After the Vovyo Competition the Housie Housie game was conducted which added up more energy to the crowd and the teams. The games like Moon walk, task relay, Cycle Bandi , Lagori Final , Coconut Smash Final and Tug of war Final continued until 6:00 Pm. Auctions was conducted and bidding was made for many items like bongo drum, tender coconut and many items.

The Valedictory function for the event was held at 7:00pm the guest for the valedictory was Joseph Mathias MD of Merit Freight System LLC, Leticia MD Mega Speed Cargo and Walter Nandalike. Joseph Mathias spoke to gathering and wished KY to look forward for many such Sports event and also assured his support for future events of KY. Walter Nandalike said that this was the first event in Dubai that he witnessed from Inauguration till Valedictory, he was very happy spending his whole day with in Khel Mhel  ‘Sanganth’ CD produced by  Stevan Dsouza Bahrain , Music by Roshan Dsouza , Angelore  was also released  on the same day. The Secretary of KY Ms. Sweeny D Souza thanked everyone for making this Sports Event a great success.

This fest which was organized under the motto ‘Revecha Uskyar Mathiyecho Khel’ was very much successful in showcasing the love for the childhood Native games and gathered all the Konkani Community to meet under one roof. Konkan Yuva received an overwhelming response for organizing such a wonderful event from the entire crowd. MC Viyon Veigas, MC Vernon Dsouza and MC Sweeny Dsouza along with DJ Shavin where successful in entertaining the crowd. Under the leadership of Vivian Fernandes and the Team Konkan Yuva ‘ Khel Mhel ‘ helped each one to recollect the good old memories and to cherish them forever.
