Udupi: District panchayat president Dinakar Babu said the training was conducted on December 10 on road construction from plastic waste accumulating in the district.

    He was addressing the monthly KDP meeting at the District Panchayat Hall on Friday, December 6, 2019.

Vasudevan of Madurai will come to Udupi on 10th December for training on road construction from plastic waste. Officers of the Department of Public Works, Panchayat Raj Engineering Department and various departments undertaking road works and all the representatives of the District Panchayat will participate in the training, said Dinakar Babu.

All the Gram Panchayats in the district have been instructed on January 1 for collecting dry waste, all Panchayat Presidents and PDOs are being trained on the proper disposal of dry trash, and all Panchayats have been instructed to identify buildings for dry garbage collection.

Due to unsystematic of drainage in Ambalapady Gram Panchayat, more than 150 wells of 400 households in Ambalapadi and Kadekaru areas have been contaminated with water.

The Department of Public Works informed officials that 119 bridges under the school bridge project have been completed, 117 are in progress, 97 bridges have been called for and 83 are in the sanction stage. Responding to this, the President suggested that the toilet work in the school buildings be completed within a stipulated period.

At the meeting, there was an extensive discussion on housing shortage and housing shortages by housing corporations in the district.

Due to the high rainfall in the district, the distribution of groundnut, pulses and paddy seeds during the monsoon crop season, sowing of fertilizers in the district, Kempegowda, joint director of the Agriculture Department, informed the meeting.
