Udupi : Udupi: A small irrigation department in Udupi district has raised Rs 180 crore amount of work is in progress, said Minister of State for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation and Minor Irrigation, JC Madhuswamy.

He was speaking at a press conference at the Circuit House on Friday, December 27, 2019.

The government has taken up construction of vented dams under Paschimavahine project, which aims to address the drinking water problem and increase the water level through the construction of Vented dams along the coast.

There were complaints from contractors who had received tenders for the construction of the Vented Dam and the failure to complete the works. He warned that such contractors would be blacklisted. One contractor can get a maximum of five contracts. We will examine the certificate of contractors and check on the number of projects they have obtained from different departments, he said.

There is no shortage of judges in the Justice Department, 7 new judges are recruited, all the necessary facilities are provided to the courts at the district level, the courts are also set up at the required taluk, the Department of Justice is committed to provide all the facilities required and the pending cases are being disposed of at the earliest. The minister said that action would be taken on recruiting government prosecutors and auxiliary government prosecutors, adding that if necessary, lawyers working in court would be hired.

He said that there are over 16 lakh cases of civil cases pending in the civil courts and that the authorities have been empowered to resolve the pending civil cases under the authority of the District Officers, ACs and Tahsildar under decentralization.
