Udupi: A detailed discussion on the sand issue, quarry problem and deemed forest problems in the district will be sought to find a solution for the issue, the district in-charge  minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

He was speaking at the quarterly KDP meeting on Tuesday, January 7 at the Zilla Panchayat’s Dr. V S Acharya auditorium.

Under the Ganga Welfare Scheme, minority and Scheduled Castes and Tribes borewell drilling, pumpset hose and power supply works for the year 2018-19 should be completed by March 31 and these projects are to be completed by 2019-2020 under the supervision of district deputy Commissioner, he ordered.

The minister in charge has instructed the authorities to complete all projects approved by the Ambedkar Corporation, Valmiki Corporation and Devaraj Urs Corporation within a time frame.

The 3-year progress report of all projects and works undertaken by the corporation shall be submitted, and the authorities should be actively involved in the implementation of the scheme.

Already Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Koraga community. Rs 636 lakh has been approved, 27 works have been completed and 25 works are in progress. Social welfare department officials told the meeting that 16 of these will be completed by the end of January and 9 by the end of April.

The responsibility of the sand and geology department to separate the sand from the sludge extracted from the Kindi Dam and Vented dams in the district is the responsibility of the three taluka EOs, who instructed the EOs to use the proceeds from the sale of the sand to remove the silt from the rivers.

Road works are in progress by the Department of Public Works and 3 works have been completed. State highways will be widened and grants will be released. Public works department officials informed that all work would be completed by the end of February.

The minister asked for repair work on the flood-damaged school buildings to be completed by March, and that measures should be taken to provide uniforms for school children with two uniforms. A total of 166 buildings have been partially damaged, 40 schools have been repaired and pending works will be completed by the end of February, officials of the Nirmitti Center said.

A total of 1,39,000 farmers have registered for the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman project in the district, where beneficiary farmers have been paid a pension in 3 installments and the fourth installment will be released. The Agriculture Department informed that 1191 farmers have been registered as beneficiaries.

20 crore for neighboring relief in 2019-20, which includes 485 rural development projects, 201 construction works, 128 urban development projects and 46,144 houses and 112 houses in the AB and C category respectively.

Under the Basava welfare scheme, a comprehensive report comprising comprehensive information on housing problems will be prepared and presented to the Minister of Housing.

Drugs in the district must have zero tolerance on the drug network.
