Udupi : Billawa-Muslim get-together supposed to be held on January 11 in the city has been postponed, said Vinay Kumar Sorake, former minister.

Addressing a media conference at Udupi here on Wednesday, January 8, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the Udupi District Muslim Coalition intends to meet with other communities to discuss friendship with Billava, Bunts, Mogaveera, Christian and Dalit communities in order to communicate with the respective caste and community in their context and to pursue the progress of the society by establishing peace and harmony in the society. Similarly a meeting with the Billava community was called at 7 pm on 30-10-2019.

Mr. BN Shankara Poojary, former District Panchayat President and Katapadi Vishwanath Kshetra President, including myself, Mr. Janardhana Tonse, District Panchayat President, Mr. Katapadi Shankara Poojary, former District Panchayat President, Mr. Praveen Poojary, former President of Youth Forum, Praveen Poojary, President of Karkala Billava Sangha Ada Mr DR Raju attended by representatives of about 70 organizations, including the various Billawas.

The mission of the convention was placed before the audience. All the delegates who attended the meeting expressed their delight at these objectives and expressed their unanimous consent and agreed that the conference should be jointly organized by both parties. It was unanimously decided to jointly convene. All the representatives of the archery pledged their full cooperation to the meeting.

A reception committee was unanimously established to convene at the meeting with the consent of all. The committee consisted of Shri BN Shankara Poojary, Shri Katapadi Shankar Poojary, Shri Yasin Malpe and Shri Raju Poojary Byndoor as Vice-Presidents with Mr. Janardhan Tonse as the Chief Convener, Shri Muhammad Idrees as the Convener and 16 members. I was given the presidency (Vinay Kumar Sorake).

Preliminary meetings were held in each taluk as decided by the Welcome Committee. Representatives of various tiers of the Billava society ranged from at least 100 to a maximum of 300 at each meeting. At those meetings all the details of the convention were put forward. The objectives of the convention were unanimously welcomed by all those present without a single voice at those meetings, and promised to try to get as many Billava and Muslim community participants as possible. On every side, the convention was held to be a timely demand. In the meantime, some are trying to create confusion about the convention, and subdue the society and the community for the sake of their selfish interests and unnecessarily misusing social networking sites and spreading lies. Our reception committee members and guests have been slandered by substandard language and are threatened with mental and physical assault to withdraw from the conference. Due to these reasons, a few members of the Welcome Committee have backed out and Minister Srinivasa Poojary, who was to be inaugurated, has said they will not be able to attend the conference.

The reception committee of the convention has therefore decided that it is not appropriate to hold the Billava Muslim convention to be held on 11-01-2020 under such disturbing circumstances.

However, it was decided that the committee would meet in the following days to form a committee comprising the same. Rumors have circulated about the inadequacy of an invitation by Sri Kota Srinivasa Poojary to inaugurate the conference. This is pure lies. They were contacted at least three times, consented and then electronically summoned by a delegation to print a few invitation paper copies.

After they had accepted the offer, the next day, a large number of invitations were printed and distributed by representatives to invite people. It is not true that the name was recorded in the invitation paper without informing them. Mr. B.N. Shankara Pujari, Mr. Janardhana Tonse, Mr. Rama Poojary, Mr. Idris Hoode, Mr. M.A. Maula Udupi, Shri Karamat Ali, Udupi and Shri Kota Ibrahim Saheb were present.

At a reception committee meeting yesterday, it was decided to postpone the present situation of the program.
