Udupi : Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur of the Udupi Diocese observed Vespers’ and eve of annual feast evening with Word of Lord on Tuesday, 14^th January, 2020.

Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza Rector of the Cathedral along with Rev Fr. Canute Noronha Asst. parish priest, Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes, SJ and parish council vice president Jeffrey Dias, Secretary Felciana Lewis and other received the ‘Pirgent’ Smt Precilla Lewis and fly warmly received at the entrance of Cathedral campus gate with Cheryl which earlier the pirgent family arrived with the statue of Our Lady of Miracles with decorated ark. After the blessing of the Cheryl, the pirgent fly and others proceeded towards the Milagres Cathedral with brass band.

Prior to the liturgy of the ‘Vespers’ evening, Rosary of Mother Mary was conducted, followed by procession through the street of Kallianpur to Milagres Cathedral held with Cheryl and lighting the candles throughout the procession.

Followed by the procession, the Vespers’ prayers began at 7pm., Rev Fr. Roshan D’Cunha asst.parish priest of Pangala Church graced the Vespers’ prayers which the reading and other liturgy conducted by the Choir group members.

In his homily, Rev Fr. Roshan D’Cunha said that like Mother Mary, the faithful people try to help for those who needy. The Gospel reveals to us how Mary prays and intercedes in faith at Cana in wedding, the mother of Jesus asks her son for the needs of a wedding at Cana. Mary is an embodiment of something, namely the human “yes” to God’s will. As such she is the primary intercessor of the Christ. Secondly, Mother Mary helped to Elizabeth and thirdly, Mother Mary helped Apostles of Jesus after the death of Jesus on the Cross. Moreover, Mother Mary helped the needy. God is interested in every aspect of our life. We can go through Mother Mary to Jesus whenever, we have reluctant to go God.

At the end of the Vespers’ prayers, Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza placed some important announcements and he gave gratitude to all priests for the participation. He also gave gratitude to pirgent Precilla Lewis and other all concerned.
