BANGALORE: Udupi-based Aditya Rao, the main suspect in the bomb blast at Mangalore International Airport, surrendered before the Bangalore police today. Accused surrendered before DG and IGP Nalamani Raju here.

A suspicious bag was found at around 10 am at Mangalore airport on Monday. Immediately after the explosive was discovered, the police took prompt action. Later that evening a controlled explosion had taken place at Kenjar Ground, Mangaluru.

A CCTV footage of a man wearing a white hat carrying a bag was captured. The film was released by police.

The accused, who arrived at the airport from the State Bank on a private city bus and landed in an auto and then escaped after placing the bag near the Exit Ticket Counter Lobby, was apparently found during the preliminary investigation.

CCTV footage was also recorded of the accused walking out of the airport parking lot after the accused put the bag down the escalator.

Udupi-based Aditya Rao, who bears a photo of the suspect, has been placed under suspicion. The police visited his Udupi home on Tuesday and inquired about the family.
