Udupi : The valedictory programme of Ruby Jubilee year celebration Milagres English Medium Kindergarten School and Milagres Milana 2020, a mega reunion of Milagres Alumni was celebrated with grandeur on Sunday, January 26, 2020.

Prior to the stage programme another chief guest of the occasion, Raghupathy Bhat local MLA said that thousands of students have got educated through this one of the leading private institution. I wish to all concerned on the celebration of Ruby jubilee of the school. The private institutions especially in undivided district have been putting maximum efforts to benevolent of the children education with quality and better culture. Quality of education needs to be good and for better education the contribution of our teachers has been counted for. Our teachers are giving much importance for their services for the students and the institution. The noble services of the teachers should be carried on to the next generation. I should congratulate the teachers for their noble services for the school since several decades, he said.

The programme was inaugurated by guests by flying lantern. The principal of the school Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj welcomed the gatherings. Another chief guest of the occasion Pramod Madhwaraj former cabinet minister was unveiled the Ruby Jubilee Wall calendar. The Alumni face book page ‘KMEMAA (Kallianpur Milagres English Medium Alumni Association) was released by former Correspondent of the school Rev Fr. William Gonsalves. Fr. Gonsalves was felicitated by the Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo.

Veera D’Silva acting head mistress of the primary section of the institution was felicitated being first KG teacher with only one year experience with only 20 kids along with first headmistress Ms Thecla Pereira.  Presentation of felicitation was held for four experienced staff who has worked in KG section in past 40 years. They were Veronica Lewis served 24 years. Philomena Quadros served for 24 years, Collin D’Souza served one of the longest 34 years as a KG teacher who got district best teacher award during teachers day celebrations organized by education department under sponsorship of G Shankar family trust in 2017 and Wilma Machado still serving for the institution since 17 years.

Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza, present Correspondent of the school was felicitated during the occasion. Meanwhile, Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj Principal of the Milagres English School also felicitated during the occasion.

In his chief guest address, Pramod Madhwaraj said that this is a day to give gratitude. The contribution of Christian Missionery Schools since several decades in the field of education and other should be appreciated. Due to their valuable contribution, today we experience their asset of today in the society. We have acquired everything from Christian Missionary run schools. I am one of the person who got education from these schools.

In his address, Janardhan Thonse, Zilla Panchayat member and local leader said that the contribution of the Christian Institutions for the society and the students should be appreciated because these institutions not only teaches education but also the good values. School education not enough to fulfill our dreams. Meantime, better values would be needed. Education without values is of no use, he said.

Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi diocese as well as President of Catholic Education Society of Udupi diocese presided over the programme and spoke his presidential address. Jeffry Dias Vice President of Milagres Cathedral Parish pastoral council, Puspa Kotian President of Kallianpur Gram Panchayat and Michael Mendonca President of Primary section PTA spoke during the occasion.

Abhijin Devadiga one of the prestituous old student of the school who won gold in national level games and great drummer was felicitated during the occasion.

Wilma Quadros delivered vote of thanks, Mariat Rodrigues, Akshatha, Poornima and Rashmi Judy Lewis were compered the programme.

Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Dean of Udupi Deanery and former Principal of Milagres College, Sr. Hildagard first headmistress of the Milagres English medium school, Felciana Lewis Secretary of parish pastoral council, Dinakar Shetty President of teachers’ Association, Joseph Rebello, Rosaline Crasta gram panchayat member, Jayeesh Kamath PTA president of high school section, Rekha Shetty vice president and others were present on the dais.

After the stage programme cultural entertainment programme was held. Volita Lewis conducted brief games conducted for old students. Large number of old students were participated during the programme.
