CM Yeddyurappa directs officials for Brahmavar Town Council formation

Udupi : The delegation led by Udupi-Chickmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje along with Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, Mogaveera leaders Dr. G. Shankar, Yashpal Suvarna and other met State chief minister B S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday, February 12 in relate to various developmental works in the district.



Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat placed demands for formation of Brahmavar Town Council, solution for the Brahmavar Sugar Factory, Agricultural University and other developmental works..

In relate to formation of Brahmavar Town Council, it is said that Brahmavar is developing at very fast. It is hub for the centre of educational institutions, industries, health care and so on. There are Varamballi, Chantaru, Haradi and Handidi villages in Brahmavar taluk which eight villages in all. It has an area of 27,713 hectares with tremendous increase of population every year. Hence it would be very difficult due to increasing residential complexes and commercial buildings. Local representatives had requested to combine four panchayats and announce as town council.


Brahmavar was announced as taluk after several years demand by the people. The proposal for the formation of Brahmavar Town Council was put forward to the government since years, but not implemented. However, chief minister Yeddyurappa has directed to form the Town council but official document work yet to ready. He has directed to Urban Development department secretary to speed up the needed work to form the town council.
