Lock-down compulsions is mandatory, strict action will taken against the violators - DC

Udupi: District Deputy Commissioner G. Jagdish has informed that the Udupi district people should comply with the restrictions imposed by the state government on corona control and strict legal action will be taken against those who violate these restrictions.

He was speaking at a press conference at the Udupi district office on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

He said that around 900 people from abroad have been identified, a notice has been issued to all these houses and a mandatory home quarantine is observed. The patrol police and health department personnel will check in twice daily. The neighbors of these houses have been informed about the incident and they have been informed of the free toll free no.1077 of the district and police control of room 100 to give information in regard to these persons who came from abroad. DC  G. Jagadeesh warned that strict measures would be taken if these measures were not followed.

There will be daily groceries in the district. The public has been prevented from walking unnecessarily on the road, only to be allowed out of the house for the purchase of essential items. The DC also warned that stringent action will be taken against those who sell artificial deterioration of essential commodities such as vegetables and fruits. Meanwhile those who bring grocery and vegetables vehicles drivers health will be done prior to their entry to the district, he said.

Merchants are required to take necessary safety measures and operate within 6 feet gap of the customer and only parcels in hotels are allowed for customers and not to eat in the restaurants and hotels. If this would violate by neither customer nor owners, action will be taken against the customers as well as owners of the said outlet.

There have been no coronavirus cases in the district so far, and if found, the district office will be converted into a Covid hospital, and corona patients will be treated and no patients will be treated there


DC said that in order to keep in isolation for the positive patients, 150 beds were arranged n SDM C0llege to keep Coronavirus suspects. In case of necessary 100 beds are arranged in KMC, Manipal and also if required District Library building has been arranged, said DC.

Some shops, commercial establishments, industries have already been shut down, such as giving paid leave to workers who work in such organizations and directed the head of the relevant institutions not to dismiss them from employment. The district officials, who were told not to discontinue their services to all the private hospitals and clinics in the district, advised the departments / staff of other departments not to come to the office but to attend the emergency in case of emergency.

District Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhana said that the public should not make unnecessary arguments with the police during this period.
