Udupi: To control coronavirus, it is essential to maintain social distance and maintain cleanliness and hygiene, said Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda, district health and family welfare officer.

He was speaking at the Red Cross building in Udupi on Wednesday, when the Department of Labor, Udupi and Indian Red Cross unit Udupi were jointly organized after flag off for driving a traffic vehicle to raise awareness on Coronavirus.

Social spacing and hygiene practices are more effective in controlling coronavirus spread but we are still behind the keeping social gap. The DHO said that the public would not be forced out of the house, but would cooperate in eliminating the coronavirus from the country by maintaining the government’s mandate.

District surgeon Dr. Madhusudan Nayak said that coronavirus spread in India is low compared to the rest of the world. It has possible due to the cooperation of the people. There should be no negligence that there are only 3 cases in Udupi district. Corona cases are high in adjoining districts, he said, adding that the people of the district give high priority to social distance and cleanliness.

District labor officer Balakrishna said that about 15000 unorganized workers in the district were being educated about coronal control by distributing masks, hand washes and handouts.

Udupi Red Cross Unit Chairperson Basroor Rajeeva Shetty, Vice Chairperson Y G Ashok Kumar, secretary Balakrishna, labor prospector Praveen Kumar and others were also present. Jayarama Acharya Saligrama welcomed and delivered vote of thanks.
