Print Udupi: Lockdown has been loosened after the lockdown was announced to prevent the spread of COVID 19 (Coronavirus Virus Disease), which has recently reduced the number of accidents due to vehicle traffic during lockdown.
Currently there are many exceptions to the loosening of the lockdown, which has resulted in increased traffic congestion on the roads and increased road accidents. It has been noted that motorists are not accustomed to traffic on highways, mainly on national highways where driving with high speed on first lane of the highways which causes the high risk of accidents. And three people on bikes have been found traveling, not wearing a helmet, and not wearing a mask. It is a matter of concern that such accidents are more frequent in the Udupi district.
Also, due to the grease, oil, etc on the road at the beginning of the rainy season, all types of vehicles are skidded by accidents.
Therefore, the public is urged not to travel at high speed and drive cautious with limited speed, to follow traffic rules, to travel on certain lanes and compulsorily wearing helmets and avoid the accidents. District Collector G. Jagadeesh warned that strict prosecution would be necessary if it was missed.
