Print Kolar: The corruption suppression squad (ACB) has filed a case against the Udupi district collector G. Jagdeesh on charges of receiving a silver crown, a crown and a gold ring in the form of a gift from the district PDOs association during a farewell ceremony.
Jagadeesh, who is currently the Udupi District Collector, had previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Kolar District Panchayat. He was transferred to Udupi district in August 2019.
At a farewell ceremony to be held on August 23, 2019 by the District Panchayat and the District Administration, District PDOs Association Officers gifted G. Jagdeesh a silver crown, a silver crown and a gold ring at the ceremony.
The social activist, S. Narayanswamy, who was aware of the matter, lodged a complaint with the ACB’s Additional Director General of Police and sought an investigation and disciplinary action. He has also filed a lawsuit in Kolar’s main district and Sessions court, requesting an investigation.
The District and Sessions Judge, ML Raghunath, who is hearing the case, has ordered the ACB officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the case and report within two months (August 25).
Jagdeesh, 9 PDOs and CEO were ordered by the judge to file an inquiry into the case relating to the corruption control act 1988.
According to a court order, ACB officials have now filed a case against 11 people, including Jagdeesh. Six officers including former District Collector, BBMP Commissioner J Manjunath who was present at the ceremony were considered as witnessed of the case.
