UDUPI : District administration has already been issued to conduct health checks of people gather in places like shopping mall staff. Shopping complexes, shops, food distributing agencies, Hotel and Restaurants staff and bus drivers etc., said District Collector G Jagadeesh.

Speaking to media persons at Udupi he said people not to panic about the coronavirus pandemic. So far in the district there would no such coronavirus community spreading. Hence, members of various communities in the district need not be worry and panic, he said.

He said that every day on an average of 200 to 250 people from Maharashtra arrive in the district by trains, buses and other transport. There would be high risk among these people. It should be mandated to undergo heath checks, he said.

Meanwhile around 600 drivers and conductors of KSRTC buses have been health check conducted. All these conductors and drivers should contact the respective health officials at taluk level at Fever Clinics in the district.

To a query, DC said that currently there are four patients in ICU for coronavirus. Among them one is seriously condition, but his health condition is 25% improved. He advised through media to the people of the district if there is flu, fever or cough, should immediately consult the health officials instead sitting quietly in home, he said.

DC informed the public that there has been no entry to children and senior citizens to various beach places. For the time being, tourists do not travel in the district, the district does not have the capacity to monitor and look after tourists coming from other districts. Travelling in the district unnecessarily should be avoided, DC said.
