Udupi : District Collector G Jagadeesh told to Chief Minister at a video conference held at the chief minister’s office on Monday, July 13 that Coronavirus pandemic could be controlled in Udupi district if the entire border of Udupi district is completely closed. CM advised to him that with taking confidence of the local elected representatives, to take the decision on district lockdown, DC G. Jagadeesh said.

Speaking to media persons at DC office on Monday, July 13, G Jagadeesh said that he will hold a meeting with all MLAs in the district on Tuesday. The meeting will be held to discuss the stand on Covid-19 control and a decision will be taken, said District Collector G. Jagdish.

Even if there is a lock down in the district, there is an opportunity for those who are going to be locked down. Or the district would be sealed down. Udupi District Collector Jagadeesh said that if the rest of the activities in the district were to take place, then an opportunity would be given for the day.

Evaluation of the SSLC assessment in the district will continue even if the Udupi district is locked down or the border sealed down, for which the teacher will have the necessary arrangements, including the bus system, until the assessment is completed.

To a query, DC said that the RTO has reported that cases have already been filed cases against 18 to 20 bus drivers along with conductors in relate to violation of rules on transporting more people. All must comply with government rules. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the law. "We will also discuss whether there is a need for public bus transport at tomorrow’s meeting," he said.

To a query, DC said that no more than 50 people have attended any wedding ceremony in Udupi district. Officials have been investigating and reviewing each of the marriages, saying there have been no more cases involved.

If enough associations still know that any meeting under 50 persons can be held. No such association can make public meetings. Action will be taken against anyone organizing meetings and events. According to the Central Government’s SOP, there are no festivals. Festivals should be celebrated at home only. No public or the rest can join. "There is no objection to celebrate at home," District Collector G. Jagdeesh said.
