Udupi : Catholic Sabha, Milagres Cathedral unit celebrated  Van-Mahotsava on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Clerance D’Souza house premises near the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur

It was the initiative of Catholic Sabha, Milagres Cathedral to create awareness in the mind of the people for the conservation of forests and planting trees. It is celebrated as a festival of life as a crusade to save mother earth. Every year under the leadership of Catholic Sabha initiating the several awareness programmes for the betterment of the society as a whole. Through celebrating Van-Mahotsava initiative the Catholic Sabha intend to encourage tree plantation, saplings of plants and preservation of nature to maintain ecological balance by our communities in areas.

The Van-Mahotsava celebration this year not held due to protocol of COVID-19 pandemic in the premises of Cathedral here.

The celebration was inaugurated with distribution of saplings to the gathering. Catholic Sabha Milagres Unit Vice-President Jyothi Lewis handed over sapling of plant to Dr. Gerald Pinto, former President of Catholic Sabha, undivided Mangalore Diocese and inaugurated the festival of trees, Van-Mahotsava 2020.

Rosy Baretto, President of Catholic Sabha, Kallianpur Deanery, Raymond Crasta, Gilbert Cornelio and Richard D’Souza former Presidents of Milagres Cathedral, Mabel D’Souza secretary of the unit, other office bearers of the unit and others were present.

Jyothi Lewis welcomed the gatherings’ and proposed vote of thanks. Later various saplings, seeds, plants distributed to participants of the celebration.
