Independence Day to be celebrated with COVID-19 security measures – G. Jagadeesh, DC

Udupi: The Independence Day celebration will be held on August 15 at Ajjerkadu Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, as per the government’s guidelines and the safety measures of the Covid-19 control, District Collector G. Jagdeesh said.
He presided over a pre-meeting on Independence Day celebration held at the District Panchayat Hall on Wednesday, August 5.
DC informed the Health Officials to inspect the arrival of the Independence Day programme by means of a thermal scanner at the entrance of the stadium and the deployment of Heath department personnel to the sanitizer system. DC also said that the programme should maintain the covid protocol with social distancing seating arrangement and platform for dignitaries as well as a mandatory mask for everyone attending the event.
DC said through NIC take necessary steps to reach the public directly through Facebook Live and online including broadcasting the programme through webcasting. He also said that the details of these links should be made public in advance.
DC told the officials that need to honor the Covid Warriors who made significant contributions to the fight against COVID-19 on the programme and should made a special invitation to a select few who were healed by Coronavirus to attend the Independence Day event. He also said that on the occasion of Independence Day, all government offices should be decorated with electric lights.
DC said that under the all officials, during the march fast procession, Police, Home Guards, Coast Guard and forest department should be participated with COVID protocol. Committees comprising various officials of the Independence Day were formed and the responsibilities were shared.
Additional District Collector Sadashiva Prabhu, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kumarachandra, District Panchayat Deputy Secretary Kiran Pednekar and district various officials were present.
