Udupi: Covid 19 victims are being treated in government and private hospitals, free of charge, under the Ayushmann Bharat Scheme. Corornavirus infected patients do not believe any false news, said Dr. Sudheerchadra Sooda, District Health and Family Empowerment officer.

He was speaking at the general meeting of Zilla Panchayat held at Rajathadri on Tuesday, September 15 which was presided over by Zilla panchayat president Dinakar Babu.

Responding to a question by Education and Health Standing Committee Chairman Pratap Hegde Marali and other members, DHO said that if Covid was identified, it would be able to prevent the spread of the disease to others. Antigen tests are done for this purpose, which results in 1 hour, if negative, RTPCR will be checked for symptomatic persons, if test positive, treatment will be started immediately, Covid test is free in government hospitals. Even if a positive person is admitted to a private hospital with the recommendation of the District Court, there is a complete free treatment, if the patient leaves the general ward and receives more facilities, the bill alone will be billed. And if admitted directly to a private hospital, the bill would have to be borne, and the public would not believe any false news, but would be asked to immediately check for symptoms.

The public should be made more aware of the Covid test and treatment methods, the people should be more aware of their coverage and the awareness of the District Panchayat to all Gram Panchayats. Pratap Hegde Marali said that the Department of Health is fighting against Covid, and that private hospitals should also provide detailed information to patients enrolled in them.

Steps will be taken to distribute each house to the Gram Panchayats by printing leaflets on Covid examination and treatment methods, said ZP CEO Preeti Gehlot.
