Print Udupi Floods: Many helped to rescue and shift at Kemmannu Grama Panchyat Vicinity yesterday.
Udupi, Sep 21, 2020: Heavy rains in the past few days have caused devastation in several parts of Udupi District where houses and crops have been submerged. Many villagers under Kemmannu Grama Panchayat were rescued and shifted to safer places yesterday.
Hoode, Kamblathota, Padukudru, Thimankudru, Baligerekudru and many other places were submerged in flood water, hundreds of people were rescued by humanitarian relief society, Raising Smiles members Nikhil Menezes & his team, Social workers Arun Fernande’s & his team, Welfare Party Members from Hoode and Many others took part in the rescue and shifting operations at different places.
The rescued were accommodated at Salihat School, Hoode and St, Theresa’s Church Hall, Kemmannu. Humanitarian Society has made food arrangements to more than 300 people. Rain has washed away the road connectivity from Kodi Bengre to Hoode. About 3 feet of water level was seen in many places at the the main Road of Kemmannu- Hoode-Bengre.
Now as the flood water reseeded and the families are returning back.
