Udupi is the only district where Vision is being documented: G. Jagadeesh, DC

Udupi: The district of Udupi is the most attractive district for tourists in all religious and cultural spheres. District Collector G Jagadeesh said.

 

 

In his inaugural address on World Tourism Day and Awareness on beach cleaning which organized by district administration, Tourism Department, Udupi, Malpe Development Committee, Nehru Youth Center, Coastal Tourism Organization and District Scouts and Guides at Malpe Beach here on Sunday, September 27.

It is proud to say that Udupi is the only district in the state to have documented Vision for the first time. Once completed, Udupi district will be considered as a priority district for tourism. Udupi district one of the important destinations of tourism development. It is the wish of all officials and politicians to ensure that the tourism industry in the district can be further enhanced with more grants from the state and central government, DC Jagadeesh said.

 

 

He said that those tourists after touring Goa, they will further move to Kerala. But in between we have to stop them in Udupi for their tourism taste over here. Those traveling to the Udupi district requested that the tour be done in a safe manner and full of enjoyment. We need to provide good atmosphere for tourists. Hence, beach development is our utmost responsibility as well, he said.

He further added that Blue Flag Beach was the only one of the best developed beaches in all the nation’s jurisdictions, and that Padubidri’s End Point Beach to be recognized in India as Blue Flag Beach. He said tourism should be given a new dimension in the Udupi district and it should be innovated and people from all over the state and the country should come to Udupi for tourism.

Mataru Ratnakara Hegde, Chairman of Mangalore Coastal Development Authority, said that we should think positively and can do almost anything. The politicians as well as officers should think positively for the development. In undivided Dakshina Kannada District we have lot of opportunities and scope for the growth of tourism. We have best beaches, temples and culture. We should think for the better development of the districts in whatever resources we have. It would be responsibilities of the citizens for the positive thinking of tourism sector, he said.

 

 

Resource Person Prof. Eshwar Matadi said tourists need to know what is needed for supply and demand in tourism and rural development. He said tourists want to change the language, culture, style, local cuisine they eat, the attractions people come to, and the dining arrangement to make it home.

During the occasion, Ishita Achar, 8th std student of Madhava Kripa School, Udupi was honoured. She honored for making masks during coronavirus pandemic and sent 300 masks for Indian defence  force. So she got appreciation from Union Raksha minister Rajnath Singh for her work provided to the army.

Raghavendra Kini, Chairman of the Udupi Urban Development Authority presided over the programme and spoke during the occasion.

 

Zilla Panchayat President Dinakar Babu, Coastal Development Organization President Manohar Shetty, Chief Executive Officer Preity Gehlot, Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, Bharath Scouts and Guides district officer Dr. Vijayendra, Udupi CMC councilors Shesha Kodavoor, Sundar Kamadi, Edlin Karkada and others were present on the dais.

District Tourism Deputy Director Chandrashekar Naik welcomed the gathering and Udupi CMC Commissioner Anand Kallalilokar proposed vote of thanks.

After the state programme Swachhta Pakhwada campaign was organized to mark World Tourism Day. Scouts and Guides students took part in the beach cleaning programme.
