Congress protest against the CBI raid on D.K.Shivakumar, police arrests protesters

Udupi : District Congress members and DKS Abimani Balaga held a protest on Tuesday, October 6 against the CBI raid on D. K. Shivakumar’s residences in various places.
Congress leaders assembled in large number in front of Congress Bhavan at Nairkere, and they proceeded in procession with shouting slogans towards Ajjarkad against the BJP leadership at Centre and the state. Congress accused the BJP for both governments of practicing vindictive politics.
The Congress members’ protestors stopped at Ajjarkad junction by the police and then Harish Kini Congress leader said that during the Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat, D. K. Shivakumar taken important role to safeguard the Gujarat Congress MLAs and succeeded to break the horse trading the congress MLAs by the BJP government. Since then three years central BJP leadership tried to use all central agencies like CBI, ED and Income tax. Now here forth, there will be bye elections in the Karnataka state. BJP now using the ED and CBI in order to divert5 the voters which shameful one. CBI has been investigating the Paresh Meshta death case. What happened in this case, he asks. Now BJP has been using CBI raiding the DK Shivakumar’s residences.
He said that D. K. Shivakumar our leader in the state is not like S.M.Krishna who fears the BJP. D.K.Shivakumar is a ‘Kanakapura Bande’. He don’t not care for BJP’s various tactics when elections nearer. Congress party in the state not even distributed to seats for the forthcoming bye elections. But in order to divert voters’ image on Congress, BJP playing against the Ciongress. People will teach them a lesson, he said.
Speaking at the protest, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, General Secretary of DCC said that we are facing any threat from BJP. We the Congressmen will support D K Shivakumar till the last drop of blood in our body. D.K.Shivakumar is our leader in the state. BJP repeatedly use central agencies to target Congress leaders. Why there is no action taken on corrupted Yeddyurappa and his son and why CBI not arrests such BJP leaders who involved in various scandals and scams.
Jyothi Hebbar and Veronica Cornelio also spoke during the protest meet. They said that those who speaks against the BJP, they are using central agencies like CBI, ED and other. One of the TV media brought down the news about the scandal and corruption of Yeddyurappa’s son which now they banned to broadcast the TV news. Shame for the BJP who trying to control all the other media houses, they said. In order to face the bye-elections in the state, BJP playing all these games on opposition Congress party, they said.
The protesters were arrested by the police when they attempted to block the road near Ajjarkadu junction. More than 50 workers were including Congress Women arrested in two police buses.
The arrested were Ramesh Kanchan, Prakyath Shetty, Kishan Hegde, Harish Kini, Yathis Karkera, Murali Shetty, Prabhakar Acharya, Sanjay Acharya, Krishnamoorthi Acharya , Geetha Wagle, Roshni Olivera, Veronica Cornelio, Jyothi Hebbar, Dr. Suneetha Shetty, Naveenchandra Shetty, Abdul Aziz, Janardhan Bhandarkar and others.
