Karkala : During the Coronavirus pandemic, in order to provide benefit to construction workers, Karnataka Construction Labour department had released 5,000 food kits worth Rs. 44.95 lac for distribution among registered construction workers as a relief for them. However, The list of beneficiaries submitted to the government and distributed list was false. Hence, Karkala City Municipal Councilor Shubhada Rao has been filed a complaint against the MLA Sunil Kumar and two labour officials in the office of the Lokayukta, said Shubhada Rao in a statement.

As per the complaint lodged to Lokayukta office, Shubhada Rao said the list of beneficiaries prepared by the local MLA had the names of those who are deceased. Those who not received the benefit also added their names in the list. The local MLA had prepared the list prepared bogus list for the purpose. The government money which sanctioned for the construction workers used for the party workers and MLAs near ones’. The agency which entrusted to distribute the food kits transferred huge amounts to the bank account of the MLA has strengthened the suspicions of corruption, Rao said in his complaint.

In his complaint to Lokayukta, Rao demanded immediate action on corruption indulged in the case and should take action on defaulters.
