The mortality rate of COVID-19 in Udupi district lowest in the state - DC Jagadeesh

Udupi : The mortality rate in Udupi district is the lowest in the Karnataka state. As compare to national level mortality rate is 1.6% while the mortality rate in Udupi district is 0.83%, said District Collector and Magistrate G Jagadeesh.

 

 

Speaking to media persons during the press meet organized at Zilla Panchayat Hall, Rajathadri on Friday, October 16, DC said that the role of media in regard to coronavirus pandemic in the district would be appreciated and he congratulated to the media persons.

He said the research of vaxine could be delayed. We should have to very careful like before to control the pandemic. As far as Udupi district is concerned, the tally of COVID-19 positive cases crossed to 20,000. But the positive cases since August marginally decreased. Hence, due to plenty development to control the pandemic, since one month there is no shortage of ICU beds and Ventilators’ in the district. So, it would be good sign in Udupi district in relate to the covid pandemic, he said.

DC said in Karnataka every 10lac population 91,000 persons have been coronavirus testing taken place, but in Udupi district every 10 lac population, 1,16,268 persons have coronavirus testing done. Then, if we see, the increasing rate of virus pandemic lower in the district. Hence, the mortality rate also very low. More than 75% old citizens above 65 years were succumbed death in the district. So, there should need to give awareness for the people especially for children and old aged persons that we should secure the old citizens from the coronavirus pandemic and should need to be in reverse quarantine, he said.

 

 

To a query, DC said that in relate to Navaratri celebration, the government has given certain guidelines and all the temples should follow the same. The administration given guidelines for the temple management and same conditions should be followed during the religious celebrations. Those who started earlier meal arrangements for the devotees can be continued. But, those who trying to start the meal for devotees will not allowed, he said.

Another query excess bus fare charging by private buses, DC said during the meeting of Regional Transport Authority on October 15, as per the government rates, the bus fare should be charged for commuters. There should be mandatory to wear a mask while travelling in the bus, but no need to maintain social distancing in the bus as per the government guidelines. It should be also mandatory the every trip, the buses should done the sanitization of entire bus.

 

The use of mask by family members while travelling in car not necessary. While after get down from the car, the mask should be mandatory. But the use of mask on bikes and two wheelers should be mandatory, DC said.

Those who infected coronavirus should complete Home Isolation for 10 days and there is seven days reporting time. Those who contract positive patients should also necessary home quarantine for seven days. He also said that there was no death in home isolation patients in the district, but three people succumbed death in home quarantine in the district that arrived from other districts immediately, he said.
