Udupi : Transition into the society through the organization, Catholic Sabha have been continuously working to bring about change in society,  said Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Annual General Body meeting held at Don Bosco Hall, here on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

For the past eight years, the Catholic Church has been a model in the country. The service rendered by the organization during the Lockdown due to covid pandemic is laudable and thus serves all sections of the society. He said the service would continue with the development of the community.

Speaking at the event, Santosh D’Silva Karkala, President of the Karnataka State Cashew Producers Association, who was the chief guest of the event, said that the Catholic Sabha is a self-serving organization that is well-known in the country today. It has organized selfless a good number of programmes of social and awareness camps the benefit available to minorities from the government. He called for more and more efforts to take up higher posts among community members in the society.

Writer Richard Danty of Pambour was honored with the Francis Danty Memorial Literature Award. Winners of the Denis D’Silva Memorial Article were presented with the prize distribution and the unveiling of the directory 2020-21.

The Deaneries, units and individuals for selling the maximum number of donation coupons, best active Deanery and unit and those who had actively worked for the promotion of Amcho Sandesh, the monthly magazine of Catholic Sabha were felicitated.

The meeting was chaired by Robert Minajas, president of the organization. Gregory PK D’Souza, Joint Secretary placed the report of the previous Annual General Meeting, Santos Cornelio, Secretary placed the annual report of the Catholic Sabha Udupi Predesh. Gerald Rodriguez, Treasurer placed the Annual Accounting, Henry Menezes, MANASA, Alice Rodrigues was presented the Empowered Community Trust (Sashakth Samuday Trust) report.

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Spiritual Director Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Outgoing President Alwyn Quadros, President – Designate Mary D’Souza, Convener of Sashakth Samuday Seva Trust Walter Cyril Pinto, Deanery Presidents Rosy Baretto, Kallianpur, Mabel D’Souza, Kundapur, Soloman Alvares Karkala, Ida Cornelio Shirva and Ronald Almeida Udupi were present.

Robert Menezes welcomed the gathering, Santhosh Cornelio delivered a vote of thanks and Edward Larson D’Souza Pethri compered the programme.
