Udupi district observes 65th Kannada Rajyotsava Day

Udupi, Nov 1 : The District administration celebrated 65th Kannada Rajyotsava Day on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Ajjarkad here.
After the garland on the statue of Bhuvaneshwari statue, District Collector G. Jagadeesh hoisted the flag. The district collector then received the guard of honour from different wings of the police department. A wonderful march past performed by civil police, coastal guard, home guard, forest department, traffic police along with police brass band and othrs.
Addressing a gathering, DC said that it is our resposibillity to develop Kannada language and take it to next generation. In this sophisticated era, it is common for people to abandon their linguistic self-esteem and lean towards a foreign language. In the meantime, the protection of Kannada is ours.
He said that we all need to work together to make sure government schemes and plans reach the ones in need. We are facing challenging situation of COVID-19 pandemic and it would be important to fight against the pandemic with cooperation and coordination of the people, he said.
He said that government will be providing well equipped district hospital with 250 beds along with sufficient of 197 staff at the cost of Rs 115 crore. The state government already approved for the upgrade of district hospital and it will helpful in providing quality health care services to the district people.
It would be proud moment that Padubidri beach of the district receiving the international Blue Flag tag. The district proceeding towards lots of development, he said.
He said that Tulu language is the mother tongue in majority part of the district. But Kannada is used in the administration and education sectors. It will be our responsibility as individuals to work for the development of both these two language in the district.
The district-level Kannada Rajyotsava Award was presented to 36 achievements and 4 Sangha organizations in the district.
The laptops were distributed to 9 students who scored maximum marks in the government high school on the SSLC exam.
Spoorthi Ashoka Rathoda, a student of Uchillai Mahakalakshmi English High School, who scored the highest marks in the SSLC exam, and K.Rashmita, a student of Sri Mookambika High School, Kollur were felicitated as part of commemoration of freedom fighter Jadaga and Bala on behlf of Social Welfare Department and presented Rs 1 lac to the high scorer in SSLC exam who belonged to SC/ST community.
MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Mattaru Rathnakara Hegde President of Coastal Development Authority, Dinakar Babu President of Zilla Panchayat, Raghavendra Kini President of Udupi Urban Development Authority, Sumitra Nayak President of Udupi City Municipal Council, Laxmi Manjunath vice president, Dr. Naveen Bhat Zilla Panchayat CEO, SP Vishnuvardhan, Sadashiva Prabhu, ADC and Neelavara Surendra Adiga President of District Kannada Sahitya Parished were present.
