Print Raichur: The BJP leader Basanagouda Turvihal who lost in the 2018 Assembly election from Maski in Raichur district has been officially joined the Congress Party on November 7.
Basanagouda Turvihal had lost the election by a margin of 213 votes against Congress leader Prathapgouda Patil. According to sources, Turvihal has has jumped ship to Congress as BJP is likely to give Maski by poll ticket to Prathapgouda Patil, who is now with BJP.
Turvihal changed the party due to BJP poached Prathapgouda Patil who won Maski and was disqualified later. The Congress party sources said that Congress has considering fielding Basanagouda Turvihal from Maski assembly constituency in the by-election that is yet to be announced.
Basanagouda Turvihal has joined the Congress due to the pressure of his supporters. Meanwhile, Basanagouda Turvihal also has resigned from his position of president of Tungabhadra Kada.
