Print Udupi : Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has approved in the cabinet meeting for the construction of two vented dams costing total Rs 70 crores which Rs. 35 crore each, one of which is to block saline water from contaminating fresh water in Brahmavar taluk of Udupi legislative constituency. Raghupathy Bhat conveyed gratitude to chief minister for the construction of two vented dams very badly needed and said that this would be Diwali gift to Udupi legislative constituency by the Chief Minister.
Bhat said that in spite of financial constraints caused due to COVID-19 pandemic, the people of his constituency and himself are grateful to the CM for responding to the demands of the people.
Raghupathy Bhat also grateful for J C Madhuswamy, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, has prepared a supplementary report on this massive project of providing adequate irrigation for drinking water and agricultural activities and for preventing salt water.
One of these vented dams will come up near Mogavera Pete Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple in Brahmavar taluk across Sita River where bridge will also be built and other is at Herrayibettu in Uppoor Village of Brahmavar taluk across Madisalu rivulet near the bridge where the main purpose is to block salty water.

What about promised "Keppa Todu" vented dam at "Kamblathota" near Kemmannu, Mr Bhat? Full stretch of "Paddai Bail" from Hoode to Kadike has become uncultivable due to penetration of saline water. The well/pond waters too have become saline. This was bought to your notice during your visit to the area recently. There is no mention of this issue in this report. Please address this matter also in priority basis. Thanks in anticipation.  Agree[2]
