Make Udupi a kid-friendly district: District Collector G.Jagadeesh

Udupi : Udupi district should be made a child friendly district by adequately implementing the protection of children’s rights in the district, said District Collector G. Jagdeesh.
He was speaking after launching of Jatha and information campaign on child marriage, child labour, abolition of begging and child line services as the part of the Children’s Day and Child Line say Dosti weekly programme at DC office campus here on Friday, November 13 which organized by District Legal Services Authority and District Labour Department.
Children in the district should be careful not to engage in child labor and begging. If such children are available, they should be educated in residential schools. District Collector G. Jagdeesh said that the children of migrant workers are becoming more and more vulnerable to these kinds of disasters. Moreover, the district should be made a child friendly district by organizing a large number of programs for the migrant workers to be aware of it.
Kaveri, senior civil justice and member secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, said that during this period of Covid-19, child rights are likely to be violated and protection of children’s rights should be given high priority. There need to go the door of the houses and listen to their problems. She said the public should call 1098 and find information on child rights violations.

District Panchayat CEO Dr. Naveen Bhatt, Additional district collector Sadashiva Prabhu, District Labor Officer Kumar, Labor Inspector Praveen Kumar, Legal Survey Officer of Child Protection Unit Prabhakar Achar, BK Narayan and others were present.
Child Line Director Ramachandra Upadhyaya welcomed, proposed vote of thanks and compered the programme.
