‘Purpose is the guiding spirit of your life,’ says Chairman & Managing Director of Nestle India to the Graduating Students of MAHE

Manipal, November 21: "It is your life and you must lead it on your terms",that was how the graduates were addressed in the opening speech by Mr. Suresh Narayanan Chairman & Managing Director, Nestle India Ltd., the Chief Guest on the second day of the28th Convocation Day of MAHE on Saturday.
The second of the convocation witnessed graceful presence of Chief guest of the evening Chief guest of this evening Mr.SureshNarayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, Nestle India Ltd., Mrs. Vasanthi R Pai, First lady of MAHE and Trustee, MAHE Trust, Dr.H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor, Lt. Gen (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor,Dr. Dilip G Naik, Dr. PLNG Rao and Dr.C.G. Thammaiah, Pro Vice Chancellors, Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, Dr. Vinod Thomas, Registrar Evaluation, Dr. Geetha Maiya, Director Student Affairs, Heads of Constituent units of MAHE.
Bringing down the curtain on the eventful second day e-Convocation, Mr. Suresh Narayanan Chairman & Managing Director, Nestle India Ltd., shared a number of interesting thoughts from his career journey that would evidently stay in the minds of the students after completion of graduation and offered solutions with apt examples for them grasp effectively.
To address the recently graduated students through virtual convocation, Mr. Suresh Narayanan, said, “The perspectives that I would like to share with you begins with the time in which you are graduating. This is the pandemic. This is probably for many of you might be thinking, the worst time for economy, the worst time for society, the worst time for mankind because this is the time of acute pain, of acute distress, of acute anxiety, of lot of uncertainty and where we do not know what tomorrow holds and yet my young friends, this is time of immense strength for us as human beings. This is the time, when we can, when you can, come together and do the things that you want to do as well as you want to.”
“Difficulties, storms are a part of our life and yet the one element, one single element that will pull you out of the difficult times is your purpose and values. Purpose is the guiding spirit of your life. What is it that you want to do your life? What is it that you want to be? This is not materialistic but it is what you want to be remembered for as a human being. It is important to think about it when you are young. Then you will try to achieve it as you walk through life and you will try to achieve your goals at the end”,he also addedand congratulated all the graduated students.
Lt. Gen (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE, said, “MAHE’s recent recognition as an ‘Institution of Eminence’ by the Ministry of Education, Government of India speaks for its glory and its numerous international collaborations are just some of the many major impressive accomplishments that have created a path to build our nation’s global footprint, and make India stand out on the education world map. MAHE has nurtured diverse talent since its inception, who have become world-global leaders like Mr. Satya Nadella and Mr. Rajeev Suri, leading meaningful changes and innovations in the world today. We sincerely wish all the success to our graduated students and are confident that each one of you will make us proud.”
Commenting on the 28th Convocation, Dr. Dilip G Naik, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore Campus MAHE, said“The global pandemic has shifted our focus and impacted lives in all aspects, but our University, our students and faculty body have always demonstrated a resiliency in the face of adversity.”
Addressing the students, he added, “The experiences you have today will become a part of who you are and how you face challenges in the future. Therefore, the convocation ceremony is important to both to the University and all of you, especially when you are about set on your new journey. It is a moment to savour, a moment you have worked very hard to achieve, reinforcing the time-tested belief that hard work, perseverance and dedication are indeed the true mantras for success in life.” and heartily congratulated the students.
The second day was concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. C. S. Ramashesha, In-Charge Director, MSIS.
Gold Medal winners: The Dr TMA Pai gold medal winners on the second day were: Sahil Garg, Manipal Institute of Technology; Gitanjali Jha, Manipal Institute of Communication; Gollapudi Sai Spandana, KMC Manipal; Silas Stefna, Manipal School of Life Sciences.
