Historic Day: Kallianpura Santhekatte  Weekly market operated from the New Location.

Kallianpur, Jan 3, 2021: A Historic day to the people around Kallianpur, Santhekatte. The much awaited weekly Sunday market  has started its operation from the new full-fledged market building in front of Mount Rosary Church, Gopalapura ward next to Veerabhadra temple.

Mayor Sumitra R. Nayak, councilor Manjula Nayak, Umesh Shetty, APMC member and local BJP leader inspected the first days operation at the new building and noted few grievances from the vendors and the public.

KNN reporter Richard Dsouza draw the attention of the mayor towards the height of the steps and other minor difficulties facing by the elders and vendors. In return Mayor responded positively and promised to fix them with in a week.

The new market place has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore will meet the long-felt demand of people in the vicinity.
Former district in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj had laid the foundation in 2018 and allotted a sufficient space for 90 people to sit and conduct business. All the basic facilities for traders and customers including water, parking and drainage have been also made available. The market is constructed in an area of nearly 17,500 square feet.

Santhekatte weekly market has been held for the last several decades and recently extended up to a kilometre on divider beyond the service road causing a problem for the people and motorists. It used to hinder vehicular traffic on several occasions. A sigh of relief!!, said auto driver Kiran.
