Infant Jesus Ward, Mount Rosary Church, celebrate their patron’s Feast on 17th January, 2021.

Santhekatte, Kallianpur Jan 17, 2021: It was a routine and regular affair to pray and honour Infant Jesus, by observing nine days Novena, since this ward was crafted out in 2014, and all families joined together to thank Almighty Lord.

A Thanks giving High Mass was offered in the Church at 8.00 am celebrated by Rev. Fr. Steevan Fernandes, Assistant Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church, with our own guest priest a native Rosarian Rev. Fr. Vasanth and the day’s responsibilities of the liturgy was shared by the ward members.

The evening Get Together was given start at 6.00 pm, with prayers led by Philomena Quadrus. Ward Annual report presented to the audience by Mrs Catharine Baretto, whereas annual receipts and payments account by Gurkar Richard DSouza.  Names were nominated to serve in various parish commissions / 18 Ayogs were confirmed, once the concerned members consented to serve over here in 2021.

What followed was the cultural Programme wherein the entire Ward family participated enthusiastically with heart and soul in the entire proceedings.

The chief Guests of the evening Rev. Dr. Leslie C. DSouza, the parish priest, Mr. Ronald Saldanha, Secretary, Pastoral Council & Mr Santhosh Cornelio, Convenor of 18 Ayogs, Mead Mistress of Mount Rosary High School Sr. Vanditha, Sister Superior Arati , Sr. Anna Mary  from  Goretti SRA Convent and Rose Convent were escorted to the dais by Gurkar Mr Richard DSouza. Mrs Pramela Muscarenhus, Ward Representative in Pastoral Council, formally welcomed all distinguished guests and offered roses to acknowledge their august presence and ward members for their involvement and participation.

Archibald Furtado, a member in the Finance Committee of the Church and pastoral Council, who also emcee for the event, recognised the services of ward leaders in the past and children who excelled in the academic year with their excellent results Grieg Crasta in PU Commerce Stream and Ancia Lewis top scorer in Class VII Catechism Examinations. Various sponsors of the event in Jan 2020 Feast Mr & Mrs Rocky Imelda Olivera, 2021 Novena venue – Mr & Mrs. Lawrence Annie Roche, Mr & Mrs Lazarus Philomena Quadrus, who willingly allowed to utilise their spacious Compound to celebrate this year 2021 feast, were recognised and thanked for the hospitality and contribution.

Retired teacher Mrs. Philomena Quadrus was honoured in absentia in the previous year was specially appreciated for her exemplary career as teacher in Milagres Institutions with traditional shawl and flowers….

Rev. Dr. Leslie DSouza the Vicar of Mount Rosary Church, extended festal Greetings to all ward Members present, at homes, and those serving elsewhere and couldn’t be able to make it to attend the function. In his congratulatory address to the ward leaders and achievers, expressed his happiness and contentment to see the unity, togetherness and co festiveness in Infant Jesus Ward.

The main theme for the day – to respect and recognise the services of people serving in Health Service Sector.  Mrs Philomena Quadrus in her elaborate presentation called back the selfless services of as many as 14 people, served, serving and training to be served in the coming years, hailing from our Infant Jesus community. Interestingly she was exhaustive to note the sacrificial and dedicated life of all of them during this testing time of Covid19 pandemic. All who were present were recognised and offered roses as a token of reverence and gratitude’s.

While continuing his address, Rev. Dr. Leslie DSouza was in his felicitation address, so emotional and thankful to each and everyone who accepted the challenge, need and risk of life in serving round the clock in Hospitals, in various capacities – Doctors. Nurses, Teaching in Nursing Colleges, technical and auxiliary staff.

Arun Menezes, Anson Pereira, Philomena Quadrus, Archibald Furtado, Imelda Olivera, Richard DSouza entertained the audience with their melodious Konkani and Hindi songs

Housie was the game, brought whole gathering to their toes. Winners of various games were presented with gifts by Sr. Arati.

A short skit carrying a beautiful message during these difficult times, packed with few hilarious moments and a light dose of laughter was performed by Richard DSouza, Archibald Furtado and Herald Muscarenhus.

Gurkar Richard DSouza proposed vote of thanks to call out the services, contribution, sacrifices during the Nine days Novena, Holy Thanks giving Mass in the Church and grand finale by cooking homemade food.

Grace was showered on food and thanking Almighty Lord led by Vicar.  A delicious homemade food was the special attraction for the day, cherished by one and all. Laudate was sung after all had their dinner to express gratitude’s for this blissful ward feast day.
