Udupi : Milagres Cathedral of the Udupi diocese celebrated its annual feast on Wednesday, January 20 with gaiety and fervor.

The Solemn Eucharistic celebrations began at 10.30am which Rev Fr. Dr. J. B. Saldanha, parish priest of Ejay Church, Mangalore diocese concelebrated along with more than 20 priests from deanery, outside the deanery, Mangalore diocese priests and parishioner priests including Chancellor of Udupi diocese Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo.

Introducing the theme of the annual feast, “ Milarmai pari Bhavathd pacharya”. In his most powerful and beautiful homily, Fr. J. B. Saldanha said, Our Lady of Miracles is strong shelter of our life. Through her faith, we will forward towards God. Mother Mary is perfect icon of faith and model of faith. Mother Mary’s faith of God that she surrendered herself completely to the Lord is the light of all that God had revealed to her through Scriptures.

Clearly, authentic faith, like the virtue of faith in the heart of Mary is more than just believing in the doctrines that God has revealed to us through Christ and his church. Mother Mary is pre-eminently faithful to her Lord and her Son. In her Litany, the blessed Mary is invoked as virgin Most faithful. Mother Mary throughout her life obeyed God. In order to secure strong faithful to God, let us depend on Our Lady of Miracles, Like Our Lady of Miracles, let us try to recognize God’s will in all that happens in our life. Let us turn to Mary and ask her to help us live by faith and to recognize Christ in our lives, he said.

The choir enhanced the solemnity of annual parish feast mass by singing melodious hymns supported by key board players.

Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector of the Cathedral at the end of the mass conveyed gretings of the annual parish feast to all parishioner’ and expressed gratitude to Fr. J. B. Saldanha for concelebrating the annual feast as the chief celebrant and delivering beautiful meaningful homily. He also gave gratitude to all concerned including nuns of two convents, assistant parish priest Fr Canute Noronha, choir team, parish pastoral council vice president, secretary and all the members, heads of educational institutions and others.

 On behalf of priests, Rev Dr. Prakash Anil Castelino gave gratitude to parish rector, priests and faithful on the occasion and conveyed his wishes.

Due to corona 19 pandemic, the atmosphere of annual feast was very dim. ICYM members were arranged ice-cream stall at Cathedral campus, but no other stalls were permitted inside the campus.
