Victims plead to correct 9/11 issues related to land/property records in Udupi.

Udupi, March 7, 2021 : In the Udupi City Municipality and Udupi Urban Development Authority area, the agricultural land was purchased and converted into residential areas. At that time we all bought a house to build. We haven’t been able to build a house for 20 years. The reason for this is the 9/11 problem. Residents complained that they are the victims of unjustice from the district administrion and the  Urban Development Authority.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club, the victims said that several thousands of people were purchased converted land into to build the house prior to 1990.But presently we understand that due to several problems we have facing severe problems of ownership. They said that when we were bought the land, there was under gram panchayat limit. Then the Udupi Urban Development Authority and Municipality came into being. At that time we could not get a 9/11 as the new law came into being.

In regard to this problem, we have given several complaints and appeal to the district administration and the commissioner of Municipality. However our problems in this regard not solved. If we ask them they are saying to encroachment into legal ownership.

At the time of our land registration, the treasury department done our records accordingly and we paid stamp duty charges for the government. But now we are facing the problem when our house building constructed, the victims said.

Another victim said the government should put the citizens into liberty and fraternity. The value of our soul demolished, then how can it be atmanirbar? He asks.

Homes purchased twenty years ago are empty. There are many such places around Udupi. Landlords have claimed that they will protest if the documents pertaining to our location are not corrected immediately. What we believe that it would the constitutional damage, victims said.

Last month we protested near the DC office at Manipal, Additional Deputy Commissioner was received our demands and appeal. He was not in favour of us while receiving our demands which tragedy for us. The district administration and the concerned government should be in favour of the citizens, they said.
